Jim Holthaus is currently the Chief Technology Officer for BK Technologies®. Jim has been active in the development of Land Mobile Radio products since 1993 and has been an active participant in development of the P25 Digital Radio Standards. Jim received the B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska and the M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.

Jim is currently is responsible for product definition and market analysis for BK Technologies® with current focus on development of BK Technologies® P25 mobile and portable radio products. As such, Jim has been actively involved in fielding trunked radios products on various public safety networks. Jim has also participated in DHS-CAP Interoperability Test Events at various infrastructure vendor facilities.

Jim has been involved in the development of Project 25 Standards and compliant products and is currently chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8.25 Compliance Assessment Formulating Group and has previously served as chair of the TR-8.4 Vocoder and TR-8.10 Trunking standards formulating groups.

Jim is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), Vice Chair of the P25 Technology Interest Group (PTIG) and Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association Private Radio Section.
