Operations Intern

Operations Intern- Part-time

Department: Production

Reports To: Manufacturing Operations Manager

Salary Grade: G5

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Position Summary:

The Operations intern is responsible for performing routine calculations, data collection/presentation, and creating documentation in support of Operational requirements. This part-time position is for 20-24 hours/week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create spreadsheets and databases with formulas / calculations; graphically present data.
  • Create / update procedures and work instructions for Operations.
  • Perform studies on Operational elements (process time, space utilization, packaging design, workflow, material costs, etc.).
  • Lead / support improvement projects as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Perform clerical duties.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by Supervisor.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft office.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills and problem solving (including probability and statistics).
  • Very detail-oriented, accurate and organized.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidentiality and Time Management.

Qualifications:

    • Education: High school or trade school diploma (1st or 2nd year Engineering student preferred).
    • Experience: minimum hands-on experience in a warehouse and/or manufacturing facility.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

    • Work typically takes place in a normal office/lab environment requiring: sitting, walking, lifting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
    • Lifting – able to lift or move items over 50 pounds
    • Vision – specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
    • Handling – test equipment, large/small tools, radios, parts, keyboard manipulation
    • Walking/standing for long periods of time
    • Able to use standard tools

    • Talking – communicate trouble shooting problems

Packer

Packer

Department: Production

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Salary Grade: G3

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Packer is responsible for daily packaging of products in support of Customer Order fulfillment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifies and picks material per Sales Orders.
  • Packages materials and products manually per Sales Orders.
  • Updates and maintains daily Pack log with serial # information.
  • Transfers material in MRP system.
  • Assembles boxes and required packaging material as required.
  • Applies labels, barcodes, and identification to packaging.
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process.
  • Maintains inventory levels for all required packing materials.
  • Cleans and visually inspects products before packing.
  • Coordinates with supervision if errors are found.
  • Moves packed product to next operation.
  • Logs onto corresponding jobs in MRP (Epicor) and follows all job paperwork and process instructions.
  • Maintains an organized work area by performing daily 5S.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor in support of Operations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, MRP systems, etc.).
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills and problem solving.
  • Very detail-oriented, accurate and organized.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently(with limited guidance) and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

    • Experience: Material Handling, inventory, stocking, packing experience preferred.

Technician

This position is available in our Kansas office – 4830 Bob Billings Parkway, Suite 200, Lawrence, Kansas.

Position Summary:

The Technician responds to the request to analyze and repair the land mobile radio material. To achieve that goal, the Technician must have excellent ic/component repair capabilities, good understanding of basic electric/telecommunications equipment, and good communication skills. Training on radio basics will be given.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Electronics Technician responsible for land mobile radio equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Report repair activities required to bring the radio back to operation.
  • Assist with the maintenance of tracking paperwork and accountability of radio.
  • Inspect materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Support the Engineering team.
  • All tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge & Skills:
